I started my education in Fruitport in 2006 working as a teacher for Fruitport Adult Education. When I state "education", that means our students are teaching me as well. As non-traditional students, they all teach me in numerous ways every day while in the classroom. We, in Adult Education, truly meet amazing people and help them achieve their goals in many different ways.

The study of history should lead us, as people, to greater heights. What we know should always bring the desire to make the future brighter. For this reason, I became a teacher. We know not every student follows the same traditional educational path, but it has become my passion to help forge new pathways for those learners who may need a more non-traditional approach to education.

My educational career has taken me many places and has allowed me to teach in many different districts and with many different types of students. Through all of this, I’ve realized that my passion is working with the non-traditional and struggling students to help them achieve success and overcome the educational and situational obstacles they face. Every student is different and I truly enjoy getting to know them as individuals and helping them better their lives.

I love history! The Civil War is my favorite time period, but any history is interesting and fun to learn more about. As a social studies teacher, I enjoy helping my students walk through history, and make history by completing their degree.
