I became an alumni of Fruitport Schools in 2010, and I am very excited to be back in the community! With this role, I want to provide our staff and students with the support they need to be successful. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my Bachelors in Exercise Science. When I am not at work, I am with my family and friends! I currently have 2 boys and 2 dogs who all keep me very busy! A few things that I enjoy are camping, shopping, and animals! LETS GO BLUE!

I was first elected to the Board of Education in 1988. My goal at that time was to give back to the community through my service as a board member. After a short period of time, I realized I could contribute to the fiscally soundness of Fruitport finances.  Fruitport currently has the lowest tax base in the county.  My educational background in accounting and business finances has helped provide some insight when tough financial decisions are at hand.

I have always had a passion for learning and I personally understand the equalizing value of a good education.  After moving to Fruitport in 2001, I have embraced the community and am proud to call it home.  I truly believe our town and our schools are on the verge of greatness and will be a destination district in the years to come.

I came to Fruitport in 2014 after being a teacher and administrator for West Catholic High School for 9 years and the math consultant at Kent Intermediate School District for 4 years.  

I ran for the Fruitport School Board because I wanted to make sure our kids were thought of first in all decisions that needed to be made now and in the future.  I have found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. My most favorite part is seeing the work of our students whether it is on the field, on the stage, in an arena, or presenting before the school board. I take great pride in Fruitport and take every opportunity to promote our school system to others. 

I am excited to be involved with the Board of Education, as the Fruitport Community Schools are a wonderful asset to our community. I hope to be able to put my experience and education to use on behalf of our students and staff. Education is of paramount importance, and I’m looking forward to helping Fruitport Community Schools be the best it can be.

I enjoy working with people that want to make Fruitport Community Schools, in all aspects, the absolute BEST it can be! I am very proud to have served on the Fruitport Board of Education in many capacities since 2001.

Being a Fruitport graduate, I've always had pride in being a Fruitport Trojan.  I enjoy serving my community and want to help ensure our kids have a safe, encouraging and nurturing setting to grow.   I believe Fruitport is one of the best districts around and I'm honored to be serving on its school board.

I have been working with computers in some form since high school.  Always interested in gadgets, technology, and how things work, it was natural for me to move into a career working with computers and the various electronic devices of today.

I am passionate about serving my community and am honored to do so on the Fruitport Board of
Education. As a strong advocate for public education, I am proud of our district’s ability to
facilitate rigorous educational experiences within a deeply nurturing environment. My goal is to
help ensure all children in our district receive an exceptional education and leave Fruitport
Community Schools prepared to be visionary citizens and life-long learners.

Education is exceptionally important as most jobs in today’s society require some sort of secondary education or technical training. Building that foundation is as important as it has ever been. Even though I do not work with students, it is my number one priority to make sure the students at Fruitport Community Schools get the best education possible. It is also my charge to ensure Fruitport Community Schools is a fiscally responsible district.

I'm excited to be at Fruitport in this role.  Each day I endeavor to bring my passion for technology and education along with my 20+ years of IT experience  to support the students and staff of FCS. 

I'm a graduate of MCC  with an A.A.S in Network Administration and Baker College with a Bachelors of Information Technology and Security. I continued at Baker College as an adjunct instructor for 8 years after I graduated. I hold a number of IT related certifications including MCSE, CCNA R&S, CCNA Wireless, CWNA, CWSE, JNCIA-MISTAI, Network+, Security+, and several other Microsoft Certifications. 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and four children.  I've coached youth, middle school, and travel baseball for the past 10 years and also served in the  President and  VP roles for the North Muskegon Youth Baseball Club.  If I'm not at the keyboard there is a good chance I'm at a baseball field.  

I knew that working with kids was where I was meant to be since I was a teen myself. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I get to help young people realize that their growth and development is in their hands. To empower them to make the best choices for them. I am passionate about supporting our next generation to make positive changes in their lives so that their next steps are the best steps.

I am so excited to be working in Fruitport! I have a passion for education and am excited to be in a role that can support students, teachers, and other staff members as we begin this new year. 

I am passionate about the education system, so much so, that when I began college I had intended to go into teaching.  I soon found that business/finance was a better fit for me and promptly changed majors.  I feel as though I have found the best of both worlds at Fruitport, as I am using the skills that I have in a supporting role in the public school system.
