Notes from the Principal – November 2008 November Update Campus Wide Progress Reports - Fruitport Community Schools has a new grade book program that has the capability to send out campus-wide progress reports. The high school will send out progress reports each Friday to the parent(s) current e-mail addresses. If you are not receiving these progress reports and would like to be added to the list please send me your e-mail address to jhaase@fruitportschools.net. Parent Connect Portal - The new "Parent Connection Portal" is now accepting registrations. There is a link to the Parent Connection Portal on the homepage of the district's website and registration is a two-step process. After creating a Parent Connection Account, you must log onto the system and request to have your student(s) added to your account. For security purposes, please note that you must have your student's first and last name, mailing address and identification number. School Safety Week - The Michigan Safe Schools Initiative has identified the week of November 3 - 7. The high school, along with the entire district, will be practicing a building evacuation on Friday, November 7th at 9:00 a.m. In addition, the high school will also have a tornado and fire drills throughout the week. Tutoring Available - Fruitport High school is offering after-school tutoring every Monday and Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in room 110. Students do not need to sign up in advance. Please call Mrs. Chesney at 865-3101 if you need additional information. Fruitport High School Fall Play - Fruitport Upstagers will present "Cyrano deBergaerac" on November 13, 14, and 15 at 7 PM. The cost is $5.00 for students, staff, and senior citizens and $7.00 for adults. We hope to see you there. First Trimester Exam Schedule - Students will have exams on November 19th and 20th. These are full days and you can find the exam schedule on our district website under high school home page. Dual Enrollment- We will be offering another Dual Enrollment Course (Introduction to Humanities) at Fruitport High School through Muskegon Community College starting in January. This course is available to juniors and seniors who qualify and will meet on Monday and Wednesday's from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Please contact your student's counselor if your student is interested. Delayed Starts Dates - November 5th, 12th and 19th are Delayed Starts with school starting at 9:05 a.m.
