All scholarship applications are available in the Guidance Office unless there is a Web Site to apply online for the scholarship.

PLEASE CHECK THE DEADLINE DATE.  WHEN THE SCHOLARSHIP RENEWS WITH ME FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR, I UPDATE THE SCHOLARSHIP WITH A NEW DEADLINE DATE.

If the scholarship needs an official transcript, please bring in the scholarship FIVE days in advance of the due date to the Guidance Office and we will attach the transcript and mail the scholarship for you.

 

COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIPS
Apply for this scholarship online at www.coca-colascholars.org Web site, click the apply online hyperlink, then Four-Year Award for Seniors. You will need to know your GPA, class rank, and the CEEB School Code so contact your counselor.

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicants must intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related science (examples include math, chemistry, physics, biology, technologies, computer science) and meet minimum requirements with regard to grade point average and SAT 1 and or ACT scores as outlined in the individual requirements of each scholarship. MICHIGAN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants need to attend a Michigan public community/junior college, a four-year granting institution or a vocational training institution that grants a degree, certification or license. Some private institutions will also be eligible. A personal resume and two letters of reccomendation are required. First consideration will be given to children of MEA members and students from lower income households. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or you can go to www.mea.org to obtain one. Deadline: Postmarked February 18, 2009

AMERICAN LEGION NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ORATORICAL CONTEST

AAA MICHIGAN'S SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must show proof of AAA Michigan School Safety Patrol participation, good academic standing, community involvment and/or extra curricular activities. Applicants must return the application to their high school counselor. Deadline: April 17, 2009

THE GERBER FOUNDATION MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Students must have a GPA of 2.00 to a 3.70 in order to be eligible. Applications and information are available on the Foundation website at www.gerberfoundation.org. Click on the scholarship page. Applications are also available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: February 28, 2009

MICHIGAN SOCIETY FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH ANNUAL ESSAY CONTEST. Essay subject and more information will be online. Student Finalist is awarded $500.00 cash prize; teacher of the finalist is awarded $100.00 cash prize. For more information go to the website: www.mismr.org. Deadline: February 8, 2008

NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The National Commision encourages minority and female students as well as students interested in Science-Math-Engineering-Technology to apply for a merit co-op scholarship. Requirements are 3.50 GPA and being accepted to one of the following: Kettering University, Johnson & Wales University, Pace University, Northeastern University, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Rochester Institution of Technology, Anitoch College or Drexel University. CENTRALIS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION (CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY)
All high school seniors with GPA's of 3.50 or higher are eligible to compete for these scholarships. The competition is on Saturday, November 1, 2008 on the CMU's campus, Bovee Universtiy Center. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR MUSKEGON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.
The scholarship will be available beginning November 1, 2008. You can apply online at www.cffmc.org, click on "Scholarships" then on "How to apply". This scholarship is based on academics and financial need. Online Application Deadline: March 1, 2009

MICHIGAN SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS.
They offer many scholarships to high school seniors intending on pursuing further education towards a career in engineering. AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION-LAKESHORE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must be female and live in Muskegon County. A biographical statement on education and financial need and three character references are required. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: Postmarked February 29, 2008

GRAND HAVEN AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive process which considers financial need, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, educational goals, and personal aspirations. You must submit the Student Aid Report from the FAFSA and you must live in Ottawa County. DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL ALPHA KAPPA CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP

WOMEN'S DIVISION CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP
Appilcants must attend Muskegon Community College or Baker College of Muskegon full time, have a 3.00 GPA, and reside in Muskegon County. There are five $1,000 scholarships to be awarded. Deadline: Postmarked by February 20, 2009

WESTERN SHORES CHAPTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ADMINISTATIVE PROFESSIONALS SCHOLARSHIP

MICHIGAN STATE TROOPERS ASSISTANCE FUND SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher, include a completed copy of the FAFSA form, and include an essay outlining accomplishments and community involvement that demonstrates leadership and has a positive impact. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 1, 2008

MICHIGAN RETAILERS ASSOCIATION (MRA) SCHOLARSHIP
To be eligible, the student or his/her parent must be employed at a business that is a member of MRA. Students may apply online at www.retailers.com (the access code is MIRA). Deadline for requesting an application is March 14.  Deadline: April 1, 2008

WEST MICHIGAN NURSERY & LANDSCAPE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must attend MCC, and have a GPA of 3.20 or better. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 5, 2008

ROSA PARKS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.50 or above, describe financial need, document community activities, furnish three letters of recommendation, complete an application form, and an essay. Applications are in the Guidance Office.   Deadline: March 1, 2008

BILL GILL SCHOLARSHIP, N.A.A.C.P. MUSKEGON SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must complete an application and submit an essay of 300 words or more on the topic:  "How has the N.A.A.C.P. made a difference in your life?"  Applications are in the Guidance Office. Deadline: January 23, 2008

ELISE JOY FRANTZ SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must have a 3.00 GPA or better, demonstrate an interest in government, economics, or social studies, have a good moral character and have special interest in law-related activities.  Deadline:  March 28, 2008

FRUITPORT EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Type A Scholarship Requirements:
3.00 GPA or higher and a desire to complete a four-year degree program at a Michigan college or university.
Type B Scholarship Requirements: 2.50 GPA or higher and wishes to pursue an occupation requiring less than a four-year degree. This includes associate degree programs, vocational programs, LPN, etc. Deadline: 4:00 p.m. April 17, 2008

AES ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP.

SAM WALTON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants cannot be a Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. or Sam's Club Associate, or the child or legal dependent of an associate of these stores. You may apply online at www.walmartfoundation.org. The access code (SWCS) must be used to access this application process.

BURGER KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale, work an average of at least 15 hours per week for 40 weeks per year (does not have to work at Burger King), and demonstrate financial need. AMERICAN LEGION MEDICAL CAREER SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: females as described above and males: sons, grandsons, great-grandsons. Applicants should be in the top quarter or their class and can only be used in the State of Michigan. Applications available at www.michalaux.org. or in the Guidance Office.  Deadline: Postmarked March 15, 2009

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY NATIONAL PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants shall be daughters, step-daughters, sons, or step-sons of verterans who served in the Armed Forces. Applicants must complete fifty hours of volunteer service within the community. Applicants must present the completed application to the local American Legion Auxiliary Unit President on or before March 1, 2009

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY GIRL SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Must have earned the Girl Scout Gold award and must also submit 500-word essay describing your Gold Award project. This application and your essay must be presented to your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit President on or before February 10, 2008

THE AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIPS: BREWER SCHOLARSHIP, WILSON SCHOLARSHIP, YOUTH CAREER LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM, ORATORICAL CONTEST, EAGLE SCOUT OF THE YEAR AWARD, JUNIOR SHOOTING PROGRAM, BASEBALL PROGRAM. ABBOTT & FENNER SCHOLARSHIPS

MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERFORMANCE-BASED SCHOLARSHIP FOR MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES. Applicants must attend MCC, have completed four years of math, one year of physics, one year of chemistry, GPA in those classes must be 3.00 or higher, and overall GPA must be above 2.50. Deadline: April 15, 2008

MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE LIFE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT PERFORMANCE BASED SCHOLARSHIP. Applicants must demonstrate a substantial interest or competency in biology, have an overall GPA of at least 2.00, have a GPA in biology courses of at least 2.50, and attach two letters of recommendation (one from a biology instructor or counselor). Deadline: April 15, 2008

MUSKEGON ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. This scholarship is available only to those students who plan to attend either Baker College of Muskegon or Muskegon Community College. Candidates should represent a strong desire for education beyond high school and be exemplary citizens, highly motivated, and have a clear goal. Applications are available in the Guidance office. MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUSINESS DEPARTMENT PERFORMANCE-BASED SCHOLARSHIP. Applicants must have at least a 2.00 overall GPA and at least a 3.00 GPA in business courses. The five areas of performance are Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, DECA, and Office Systems Education. Deadline: April 15, 2008

MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT PERFORMANCE-BASED SCHOLARSHIP. Applicants must respond to two questions on the application and will need two recommendations (one from a counselor, employer, or an instructor). COLLEGE STEPS PROGRAM & SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKES. Seniors have the chance to win a $1,000 scholarship to their choice of any U.S. higher institute of learning. There will be four drawings for the $1,000 college scholarships in the Midwest area. These will be held in November, January, March, and May. All seniors need to do is visit www.jostens.com and click on the "Educators Services" tab to find a link to the CollegeSTEPS Program & Scholarship Sweepstakes sign up page. You can enroll between Now (October, 2007) and May 29, 2008. No essays or applications, simply a random drawing that any student can win.

MICHIGAN OIL & GAS PRODUCERS EDUCATION FOUNDATION. Applicants must have a 3.00 GPA (4.00 scale). They must be accepted at a Michigan university or community college, and must be pursuing a degree in an energy related field of study to seek employment in the oil and gas business, or an energy related business, and have financial need. SPECS HOWARD HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. This competition is for seniors interested in a career in radio or television. Applicants must take an exam in order to enter the competition which will take place on December 6, 2008. This scholarship is to be used toward enrollment at Specs Howard School in Southfield, Michigan. CREATE A GREETING CARD SCHOLARSHIP (THE GALLERY COLLECTION). No purchase is necessary to enter the annual $10,000 contest to create a holiday card, birthday card, or all-occasion greeting card. LAKE MICHIGAN CREDIT UNION LLOYD F. HUTT SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must be a member of this credit union or their parents must be a member. MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.  The $1,000 scholarship is for incoming freshmen who intent to pursue a career in K-12 education.  Go to http:www.educ.msu.edu (News and Announcements) and click on COEAA Freshman Scholarship Application link.  Deadline:  January 11, 2008

RAY B. SMITH MEMORIAL ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need, rank in the upper 1/3 of their class, and demonstrate continued involvement in community service work.  Preference will be given to applicants who have participated in a sport.  The Community Foundation for Muskegon County general application process shall be used.  Go to www.cmfcc.org and click on "Scholarships" and then "how to apply".  Applicants may specify in the  narrative their interest in this scholarship which awards a one-time $5,000 scholarship.  Deadline:  March 1, 2008

RARE FOUNDATION "EVERYDAY HERO" WRITING SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must submit a 500 word essay on the theme, "My Everyday Hero - A True Difference Maker".  If you essay is selected, you will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship and your Everyday Hero will receive a $1,000 honorarium.  Go to www.rarefoundation.org for additional information.  Deadline:  Received by February 27, 2009

LEM TUCKER JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must be accepted to Central Michigan University, have a GPA of 3.00 or better, have a minimum score of 18 on the ACT, or a minimum of 850 on the SAT.  Applicants must also submit a published print or broadcast work.  Deadline:  March 3, 2008

MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF MUSKEGON COUNTY.  One $2000 scholarship is awarded to students planning to transfer to MSU.  Applications are in the Guidance Office.  Deadline:  March 1, 2008

BIG SUN SCHOLARSHIP.  All student athletes are eligible for this award of $500 regardless of which sport they are participating in.  Visit the website at http://www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply.  Deadline:  June 27, 2009

STUDENT INSIGHTS - 2008 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.  This program is offering $8,000 worth of scholarships to college bound seniors.  Student Insights is a market research firm helping colleges and universities communicate more effectively with high school seniors.  You will need to log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15 to 20 minute application survey about colleges in your area.  Deadline:  April 22, 2008

MUSKEGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE - MUSKEGON SCHOLARS.  This scholarship is for students entering the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  Applicants could be awarded up to $4100.  Go to the Web Site for more information:  www.muskegonscholars.orgDeadline:  April 15, 2008

ADAM KIEFT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must show a desire to work with youth and/or a love for sports and/or be interested in pursuing certification or a degree in mechanics.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline:  April 17, 2008

WENDY'S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must have at least a "B" grade average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport.  Go to the web site www.wendysheisman.com to register and begin the application process.  Deadline:  October 1, 2008 by 5:00 p.m. central time.

GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS.  Applicants must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, have at least a GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extra-curricular or other activities.  Go to the web site www.gmsp.org to apply.  Deadline:  January 12, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. EST for online or postmarked by January 12, 2009.

HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.  Applicants must have financial need, have exhibited integrity in overcoming personal adversity, and will be pursuing a bachelor's degree.  Go to the web site www.horatioalger.com/scholarships to apply.  Deadline:  October 30, 2008

NALS OF MICHIGAN SCHOLARSHIP.  The National Association for Legal Professionals will award $1,000  based on scholastic achievements, future career goals, demonstration of financial need, and leadership ability.  Applicants must have at least a B average.  Go to their web site for an application: www.nalsofmichigan.org/ScholarshipFund.htmDeadline:  Postmarked by January 15, 2009 

TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS.  Applicants must have a G.P.A. of at 3.00 or better, be actively involved in a service organization or project that has a positive impact on the school and/or community, and plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.  See your counselor if you wish to apply.  Deadline:  Postmarked by December 1, 2008

KFC COLONEL'S SCHOLARS PROGRAM.  Applicants must maintain a 2.75 G.P.A. or higher, enroll in a public, in-state college or university from the state they live in, and  pursue a bachelor's degree.  Applicants must also complete a FAFSA (financial aid form).  Students can complete their application online at www.kfcscholars.org.  The online application will be available from December 1, 2008 through February 10, 2009. 

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FEDERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS (NAFEPA) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. Applicants need to be in financial need, be involved in extra-curricular activities within the community, will need 3 letters of recommendation, and write a 300 word essay.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline:  December 31, 2008 

EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must be admitted to the University.  A GPA of 3.20 or better is required, an essay of 250 words or less, and a sponsorship by a parent or grandparent who is an EMU alumna/alumnus. WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY MEDALLION SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION.  Applicants must be a degree-seeking student enrolled at WMU, have a cum GPA of 3.70 or higher at the end of their junior year, and an ACT composite score of 26 or higher.  Students who meet this criteria, an application fee of $35, and ensure all documents necessary for admissions are received by WMU by December 5, 2008 will be invited to compete.  All students who participate in the January 24, 2009 competition will receive a minimum of a $3,000 Dean's Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year.  Deadline:  December 5, 2008

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.  Applicants must submit a personal statement, letter of recommendation, and a current (2007 or 2008) copy of the IRS Form 1040 used to document total income.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline:  February 16, 2009

GERALD R. FORD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants must be accepted to Davenport University, have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and a minimum ACT score of 31.  Recipients also are selected based on an essay describing how they have and will model the character and values of President Ford and an interview with the selection commmittee.  Apply online at http://fordscholarship.davenport.eduDeadline:  January 15, 2009
