Student Services- Prerequisite:  Elected class officer and/or approval of application.  This course is designed to provide a more responsive government system that develops leadership skills within the context of a combination elected and volunteer student council.  Students interested in running for class officers and overall student council officers will sign up for this class, meet criteria established, and be selected through a popular vote of their classmates.  Students interested in serving as representatives will apply to be in this class and will be evaluated by their current teachers to see if they meet the qualifications of a student council member.  The student service class will devote a portion of class meetings toward students council business and a portion of class meetings toward leadership.  Students are expected to complete some work outside of class.

YearbookPrerequisite:  Application and permission from instructor.  This is a class for students who are interested in Fruitport High School and its yearbook.  Students in this class learn the principles of layout and design, caption, feature, and straight news writing, and desktop publishing using PageMarker 5.0.  Students also market and finance the yearbook;  they are responsible for all aspects of yearbook production from concept to completion.  It is open to students grades 9-12 who have completed the application and interview process. 12th grade applicants must have one year of yearbook staff experience unless approved by instructor.  It may be repeated for credit.
