Physical Science-
This course is designed to explore the fundamental concepts of Physics and Chemistry using a lab intensive inquiry approach. It covers an in-depth study in the areas of motion, energy, waves, optics, electricity, electromagnetic, chemical relationships, chemical bonding, and atomic structure. While the mathematical laws governing Physical Science will be addressed, this course is not math intensive.

Biology-
In first term, the student learns how to design and conduct an experiment along with skillful use of the microscope in investigating life. Special attention is given to the cell be considering its anatomy and the processes that occur within it, whether plant or animal. The green plant, bacteria and viruses are also included. In the second Term, the student learns about cell reproduction and the mechanisms of heredity. Special emphasis is given to human anatomy and physiology.

Advanced Biology-
Prerequisite: Biology. Biology is concerned with the study of fundamental laws and accepted theories concerning all living organisms. This course will be an advanced study of biology emphasizing both lecture and laboratory activities. The course will taught at an accelerated pace and the design will be similar to a collegiate level Introductory Biology course offered to undergraduate science majors. Special emphasis will be placed on plant and animal taxonomy, anatomy and physiology, genetics and lake and stream biomes.

Chemistry- Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or better in Algebra or the consent of the instructor. Chemistry is a general look at the basic characteristics of matter and the changes it undergoes. It is a historical and mathematical study of chemical theories starting with the four elements of the ancients and progressing to modern atomic theory. About one-fifth of the course is lab work.

AP Chemistry-
Prerequisite: Chemistry, Physics, B or better in Algebra II, or consent of the instructor. Chemistry is concerned with study of fundamental laws and accepted theories concerning the structure and nature of matter. This course will be an advanced study of chemistry emphasizing both lecture and laboratory activities. The course will be taught at an accelerated pace and the design will be similar to collegiate level General Chemistry course offered to undergraduate science majors. The Advanced Placement test will be taken in May.

Physics-
Prerequisite: Algebra II. Physics is the study of the laws governing the natural world around us. The optics covered include vector analysis, force, energy, gravity, heat, waves, electromagnetics, and atomic theory. This class should be taken by all students planning to pursue any career in a science related field. About 25% of the course is laboratory inquiry.

AP Physics-
Prerequisite: B or better in Physics, Current enrollment in Calculus. Calculus requirement may be waived if student had an A or better in Physics, enrollment in a fourth year of math, and consent of the Physics and math instructors. Physics is study of the fundamental laws and accepted theories concerning the inter-relationship between matter and energy. This course will be an advanced study of physics emphasizing both lecture and laboratory activities. The structure for this course will be based on the College Board AP Physics C-Mechanics curriculum and will be similar to a collegiate level Introductory Physics course offered to undergraduate science and engineering majors. The Advanced Placement test will be taken in May
